The role of a youth worker offers many exciting and challenging career opportunities. Diploma of Youth Work graduates are highly sought after for a wide range of positions including those in psycho-social support services, recreational programs, juvenile justice, housing, schools and local government.
Adolescence can be a challenging and transitional time for young people and many may experience mental health and behavioural issues or disorders that need support with, whilst working out their identity on the journey into adulthood. Youth at risk or in crisis can need practical support such as food, shelter, safety, along with counselling to help them get on to a more positive path in their lives.
