Diploma of Conservation and Ecosystem Management

National ID: AHC51120 | State ID: BGF9

Further develop your skills in Conservation and Ecosystem Management

This qualification aims to take your skills that you have developed in the field and make you ready to move into more managerial roles. During the course you will gain more skills around the development of documents, for an ecological area that is of interest to you. We begin by introducing new tools such as Geographic Information Systems and Conducting Biological Surveys with culturally appropriate knowledge. During this phase we undertake two five-day workshops where you spend time in the field collecting data for your reports. We access the conditions of a river and a cultural site which are used for GIS in the first term and we estimate the biology of an urban river during the second term. In the second half of the course, you develop a Management Plan for an area of interest to you or your employer. We will visit your site and assess its fire fuel loads and then you will plan an ecological restoration, which feeds into the overall Management Plan.

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:

Park Ranger | Environmental Consultant
