The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, horticulture or livestock context as a job focus or, in the case of mixed farming enterprises, both horticulture and livestock.  When you complete this course you will be ready for a career in agriculture. This qualification provides a general vocational outcome in agriculture. You will have the skills and knowledge to perform tasks in a variety of contexts, which involve some judgement in selecting equipment and services.

  • Have an interest in the Agriculture Industry
  • Enjoy practical / manual work
  • Enjoy nature and outdoors
  • Be able to work independently as well as within a team
  • Be able to cope with varied weather conditions outdoor (e.g., heat, rain, cold, wind)
  • Be able to cope with nature (e.g., flies, pungent odours, injury / death of livestock)
  • Have an eye for detail and good hand-eye coordination
  • Possess high stamina and fitness levels to carry out manual work
  • Demonstrate your ability to accurately follow plans and instructions, and work to deadlines
  • Show your ability to follow Work Health and Safety procedures and respond to immediate safety risks
  • Show tolerance, patience and willingness to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures
