Applying for special circumstances - TAFE Admissions
What are special circumstances?
TAFE Admissions, in consultation with TAFE WA colleges, may make provisions for applicants who can demonstrate that special circumstances have affected their ability to compete fairly for entry into a course.
Special circumstances must be exceptional, beyond the applicant’s control, and have had a significant impact on their ability to participate in education or employment. These circumstances may be taken into account during the application and selection process, including for highly competitive courses.
Where approved, adjustments may be applied to support consideration of an applicant’s individual situation. However, approval of special circumstances does not guarantee an offer of a place.
All applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis by TAFE Admissions in consultation with the relevant TAFE WA college.
Important dates
- Applications must be received in full at least 10 working days before Round 1 offers are issued.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Who should apply?
You may apply if your circumstances have made you less competitive for entry into a course. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Health-related reasons, such as serious illness, injury, or disability.
- Unemployment or inability to work.
- Family or social circumstances that have had a significant impact.
Supporting documentation
You must provide current and relevant evidence to support your application. Applications without supporting documentation will not be considered.
Acceptable documents include:
- Specialist medical reports (must be current within the last 12 months).
- Letters from teachers or education providers outlining the issues experienced and how these affected educational outcomes.
- Other formal documentation that can be verified.
